Privacy Policy

Bako Deals is operated by Frequency Broadcasting, Inc. ("Bako Deals," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit bakodeals.com or purchase a deal, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.

By using our site you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. Who we are and how to reach us

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account information. Your name, email address, and password when you create an account or log in.
  • Order information. The deals you purchase, order history, billing name, billing address, and the last four digits and card type of your payment method. Full payment card numbers are handled by our payment processor and are never stored on our systems.
  • Contact information. Anything you send us by email or through a contact or support form, including your message content.
  • Marketing preferences. Your email address and, if you provide it, your mobile number when you sign up for deal alerts.
  • Merchant inquiries. Business name, contact name, email, phone, and any details you submit when asking about a merchant partnership.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and connection data. IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, screen size, and language settings.
  • Usage data. Pages viewed, deals viewed, links clicked, referring URL, search terms used on the site, time spent on pages, and dates and times of access.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. See Section 6.

Information from third parties

  • Payment and commerce platforms. Our ecommerce and payment providers send us order status, fulfillment confirmations, refund status, and fraud screening results.
  • Advertising and analytics providers. Aggregated or pseudonymous measurement data about how visitors reach and use our site.
  • Merchant partners. Redemption confirmations, and in some cases notice that a certificate was used, voided, or disputed.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information such as government identification numbers, precise geolocation, health information, or biometric data.

3. How we use your information

We use the information described above to:

  • Process, fulfill, and deliver your orders, including issuing and emailing your certificates
  • Provide customer support and respond to your questions, refund requests, and disputes
  • Create and maintain your account and let you view your order history
  • Send transactional messages such as order confirmations, delivery notices, and service updates
  • Send deal alerts, newsletters, and promotional messages when you have opted in
  • Verify certificate authenticity and confirm redemptions with merchants
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, chargeback fraud, and unauthorized use
  • Measure and improve site performance, deal selection, and the customer experience
  • Comply with legal obligations, including tax, accounting, and recordkeeping requirements
  • Enforce our Terms and Conditions and protect our rights, our customers, and our merchant partners

4. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information for money.

We share information in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers. Our ecommerce platform, payment processors, hosting provider, email and text messaging platforms, customer support tools, and analytics providers process information on our behalf under contracts that limit their use of it to providing services to us.
  • Merchant partners. When you buy a deal, we share the information a merchant needs to honor your certificate, which is typically your name, the certificate number, and the deal purchased. Merchants may not use this information for their own marketing unless you separately opt in with them.
  • Frequency Broadcasting stations. Bako Deals is promoted by Kelly 95.3, Groove 99.3, and KNZR 1560 AM and 97.7 FM, which are operated by the same company. Information may be shared internally within Frequency Broadcasting, Inc. for promotion, reporting, and customer service.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or governmental request, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to investigate fraud, protect the safety of any person, or defend our legal rights.
  • Business transfers. If Bako Deals or Frequency Broadcasting, Inc. is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change in ownership or use of your personal information.

5. Advertising and cross-context behavioral advertising

We may use advertising and analytics technologies from third parties, including social media platforms and search engines, to measure the performance of our promotions and to show relevant ads for Bako Deals on other services.

Under California law, some of this activity may be considered "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, even though no money changes hands. You have the right to opt out. See Section 8 for how to exercise it.

6. Cookies and tracking technologies

We use the following categories of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Strictly necessary. Required for the site to function, including keeping items in your cart, maintaining your login session, and securing checkout. These cannot be turned off.
  • Performance and analytics. Help us understand which pages and deals are viewed, where visitors come from, and where they encounter problems.
  • Functional. Remember preferences such as your email signup status so we do not repeatedly prompt you.
  • Advertising and targeting. Measure the effectiveness of our advertising and allow relevant ads to be shown to you elsewhere.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent checkout from working.

Global Privacy Control. We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal. When we detect a GPC signal from your browser, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information associated with that browser.

6a. In-person pickup

Some deals are collected in person at our offices. When you pick up an order, we check a government issued photo ID against the name on the order to confirm we are releasing it to the right person. We look at the ID and hand it back. We do not photograph, scan, copy, or record the identification document or its number. We record only that the order was collected, the date, and the staff member who released it.

If you authorize someone else to pick up on your behalf, we retain the email in which you gave that authorization along with the order record.

7. Email and text messaging

Email. If you subscribe to deal alerts, we will send you promotional emails. Every promotional email includes an unsubscribe link and our physical mailing address. You may unsubscribe at any time. We will still send transactional emails related to your orders, such as receipts and certificate delivery, because those are necessary to complete your purchase.

Text messages. If you provide a mobile number and consent to receive text alerts, message frequency varies and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to cancel and HELP for help. Consent to receive marketing texts is not a condition of any purchase. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Full terms are on our Deal Alerts page.

8. Your California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Right to know. Request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, the business purpose for collecting it, and the categories of third parties we disclose it to.
  • Right to delete. Request deletion of personal information we collected from you, subject to exceptions such as completing a transaction, detecting security incidents, or complying with a legal obligation.
  • Right to correct. Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to opt out of sale or sharing. Direct us not to sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Right to limit use of sensitive personal information. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes beyond those permitted without a right to limit.
  • Right to non-discrimination. We will not deny you goods or services, charge you a different price, or provide a different level of quality because you exercised a privacy right.

How to exercise your rights. Email bakodeals@frequencybroadcasting.com with the subject line "Privacy Request," or call (661) 393-1900. Tell us which right you are exercising.

Verification. To protect your information, we will verify your identity before acting on a request to know, delete, or correct. For account holders, this usually means confirming control of the email address on the account. We may ask for additional information if we cannot verify you with what we already have.

Authorized agents. You may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We may require written proof of the agent's authority and may still ask you to verify your identity directly.

Response time. We confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond substantively within 45 calendar days. If we need more time, we will notify you and may extend by an additional 45 days.

Shine the Light. California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits California residents to request information about disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes. You may confirm this by emailing us at the address above.

9. Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy:

  • Order and certificate records are retained for as long as a certificate remains redeemable, plus the period required by tax and accounting law.
  • Account information is retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward.
  • Marketing contact information is retained until you unsubscribe, plus a short suppression period so we do not re-add you by mistake.
  • Support correspondence is retained for a reasonable period for quality and dispute purposes.

10. Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, restricted internal access, and the use of PCI compliant payment processors that handle card data outside our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Children's privacy

Bako Deals is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. We do not sell or share the personal information of consumers we know to be under 16. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Third-party sites and merchant locations

Our site links to merchant websites, station websites, and other third-party services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. When you redeem a certificate in person, your interaction with that merchant is governed by the merchant's own policies.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. If we make material changes, we will provide additional notice such as an email to subscribers or a notice on the site. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
